Architecture Feature: John Kirksey

Houston architect and President of Kirksey Architecture, John Kirksey is known as the environmentalist architect. The University of Texas graduate incorporates green features in his building. The Energy Three Center, which he designed, is set to become the icon of “Houston’s energy corridor” and will include green features like a 40,000-gallon rainwater harvesting tank and a state of the art HVAC system.

The Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA center is also an example of Kirksey’s green prowess as an architect. The building features include HVAC and natural lighting – to reduce the building’s carbon footprint. The Kirksey firm also designed the Memorial Herman Medical Plaza and the Houston Astros Diamond Club.
